Not all podcasts are created equal
I subscribe to a lot of Christian podcasts. Yet I only listen regularly to a few. Why is that?
I sometimes add new podcasts to my podcast subscriptions after reading articles that purport to enumerate the best podcasts on the planet. Or when I read a book by an author who podcasts and or I hear someone speak at a conference who recommends podcasts, including perhaps their own. And so the list grows like my pile of unread books. Can anyone see a pattern here?
Subscribing is one thing, but listening regularly is quite another. The only podcast where I have listened to literally every episode is the Two Texts podcast by David Harvey and John Andrews. Let me explain why.
Two Texts Is Food For The Soul
Two good friends, who are not just knowledgeable, but interesting to listen to as they discuss Bible texts in some depth. Two Pentecostals who treat the text seriously and don't avoid the issues thrown up by it. Two believers in Jesus who exude their passion for Jesus and express continuing wonder at the grace that they have freely received. This all amounts to authentic Bible exploration that is profoundly devotional.
David and John usually produce two episodes every fortnight. Their inaugural series was on the parables of Jesus and the second was on the miracles of Jesus. Their third series will begin early in 2022.
I would describe their approach as one of pursuing Biblical Theology. They paint the big picture and tie together themes and texts from across the Bible. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay them is that they leave you wanting to spend more time in the Bible for yourself.
You can find the Two Texts podcast everywhere you usually obtain your podcasts or by going to their dedicated website, TwoTexts.com.
Highly recommended.
